Mechanical watch movement on a dark background

About

About The Dial Report

The Dial Report exists because the luxury watch market is full of confident advice and short on honest analysis.

For a while, roughly 2020 to 2022, it looked like watches only ever went up. Prices for steel sport models doubled and tripled, waiting lists ran for years, and people who had never owned a mechanical watch started talking about them like a can’t-lose trade. Then the market corrected, hard, and a lot of people learned an expensive lesson about the difference between a good watch and a good buy.

Evidence over hype. The approach is simple and it does not change.

We started The Dial Report to be the resource we wished existed back then. We look at what watches actually sell for, how they hold value over time, and why, and we turn that into frameworks anyone can use to buy intelligently.

We are deliberately not another voice telling you that any watch is a guaranteed investment. Some references are genuinely excellent stores of value. Many are not. Our job is to help you know which is which, understand exactly what you are risking, and make the call with your eyes open.

No hype. No hand-waving. Just the clearest, most honest read on the watch market we can give you.

Data first

Claims are grounded in market data, and we link our sources so you can check them.

Opinions labelled

When we give a view rather than a fact, we say so plainly.

No promised returns

We will never tell you a watch is certain to go up. Nobody honestly can.

Built for buyers

Everything we publish should help you make a better decision before you spend money.
